Reading on Ranches Camp
Our largest program, Reading on Ranches Camp, provides students with an unforgettable experience that joins reading with hands-on, outdoor experiences. Campers spend their week exploring local ranches while nurturing and improving their reading and writing skills. Each camp centers around a common book and includes writing, jouraling, games, and a variety of activities. Our week-long camps are offered for children in 1st-9th grade. Learn more about Reading on Ranches Camp here.
BookTrails School Year Program
BookTrails offers programs in Steamboat Springs during the days off of school for in-service days. Check back here to find out about our next program.
BookTrails will not hold a program on January 15th.
BookTrails Scholarship Program
BookTrails strives to provide literacy education to all children, regardless of their financial situation. We provide scholarship funds for around 30% of the total number of children we serve each year. Our Scholarship Program is funded by a yearly fundraiser, the Sunset Gala, and grants from businesses and foundations. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, click here.
Summer Slide Initiative
In 2015, BookTrails collaborated with local educators to create the Summer Slide Initiative, a program for under performing, low income students to receive summertime literacy education at Reading on Ranches Camp. To qualify for the program, the student must be at least two grade levels behind in reading skills and also learning the English language. Their family must earn less than average HMI (household median income) for Routt County, which is $54,218. Please contact Emily@steamboatbooktrails.org for more information.
